研究概要
Biocontrol has been considered self-sustaining and environmentally friendly management approach against invasive pests if potential risks are properly managed. The goal of the proposed research is to evaluate potential and feasibility of virus(s) as biocontrol agents against invasive ants in Japan by characterizing pathogenicity and potential impacts of viruses. The specific aims of the current project include 1) assessment of accumulative mortality, number of brood and queen longevity in virus-infected ant colonies; 2) development of an effective virus delivery system.
