概要

Nanobubble2024国際会議を京都大学宇治キャンパス・おうばくプラザにて開催し、76件の講演と、155人の参加人数があった。非常に幅広い分野からの発表が多く、天候にも恵まれ活発な議論を進めることができた。

目的と具体的な内容

Nanobubble国際会議は、これまでにマクデブルク(2022)、蘇州(2018)、コフスハーバー(2017)、上海(2014)、レ・シュシュ2012)と5回の会議が行われてきており、ナノバブルおよびナノ液滴の分野における最新の進展を踏まえた発表が行われてきた。2024年度は、これをさらに発展させてファインバブルなどのサイズの気泡いんついての議論も進め、数多くの世界中の研究者と対面での議論を進めていく。会議では、最新の実験データや現象、理論およびモデリングからの新たな洞察、先端的なナノ特性評価技術、さらには生物学、環境保護と修復、医療など多岐にわたる分野における気泡の応用に関する興味深い発表が行われた。本国際会議においては、総参加人数は155名であり、その内訳の上位としては、日本:60名、中国:31名、米国:12名となった。また、学生参加も国内外合わせて26名あり、学生同士の交流も活発に行うことができた。生存圏科学とNanobubble研究とのかかわりについては、冒頭の開会あいさつにおいて山本所長からもご紹介頂き、参加者からも生存圏科学に関しての話題も挙がり、活発な議論が進んだ。招待講演では、気泡研究やナノ技術の専門家が集まり、最新の研究成果が発表された。主要な講演者の一人である Prof. Dr. Claus-Dieter Ohl は、ドイツの Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg に所属する教授であり、高速流体力学やキャビテーションの医療応用に関して講演いただいた。また、Prof. Dr. Koichi Terasaka は、慶應義塾大学の教授で、ファインバブル技術の研究に長年取り組み、ファインバブルの生成や評価技術の紹介をしていただいた。さらに、Prof. Dr. Agata A. Exner は、米国の Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine の教授であり、ナノバブルを用いた新しい医療技術の開発に注力している。この他にも、世界中の研究者が参加し、ナノバブルや微細気泡技術の多様な応用について議論された。

生存圏科学の発展や関連コミュニティの形成への貢献

Nanobubble技術は気泡と水(液体)に関する講演が多く、応用利用範囲が非常に広い。そのため、環境問題解決としてのNanobubble研究(農学、化学工学、環境工学)や、医療に関しての最新研究成果(ドラッグデリバリー等)など、様々な研究発表があった。生存圏科学は、人間が健やかに、環境・エネルギー・資源問題の包括的な解決を目指しており、一方でNanobubble技術は、水質浄化や環境保護、再生医療など、さまざまな分野で応用可能性が高く、持続可能な社会に向けた具体的な技術的解決策の一つとなっている。

 生存圏科学の視点からも、Nanobubbleは環境問題の解決に向けた有力な技術として期待されている。本会議の中でも、例えばグアテマラの研究者は自身の国が抱える水質汚染の問題解決を探っており、本会議に参加することで、多数の知己を得ることができ、新たな研究課題解決についてのアイディアが浮かんだという話をしていた。また、ベトナムやインドネシアの研究者とも将来の生存圏解決課題についての議論を行ったりもしている。各国がかかえる環境問題を、国の垣根を超えて柔軟に京都にて議論できる場を本シンポジウムにて儲けることができたことは、非常に価値が高く、今後のコミュニティ発展も行うことができた。

 尚、本シンポジウムにて現在共同で連絡が可能なメールベースでの連絡網を作成しつつあり、今回参加できなかった海外の学生(例えばフランスの学生)によるオンライン講演会なども行うことで、活動を活発に行っていく予定である。
