Laboratory of Material Biology

What structures in living things (especially tree cells) are made and how do they function? We are evolving such knowledge in deep.

About

In our laboratory, wood science from a wide range of viewpoints is conducted with variable approaches. Following themes are the typical research topic.
– The biosynthesis of wood and its components like cellulose using biochemistry/synthetic biology and polymer science
– Structural analysis of wood cell walls/biomass and its link to the properties
– The interdisciplinary science of wood culture with wood science and cultural asset science
