Environmental Physiology of Xylem Formation

Environmental Physiology of Xylem Formation

Over a long period of time, timber-producing forest trees accumulate xylem (wood) inside their trunks. The wood formed varies depending on the environment in which each tree is located. In this laboratory, we are investigating how wood formation changes when the environment is arbitrarily changed in the laboratory. We also use genetic modification techniques to further explore the physiology of different wood formation factors in more detail.
