The Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH) at Kyoto University defines the “Humanosphere” as the vital spheres that sustain human activities. We aim to investigate its pressing current and future challenges, pioneering innovative technologies that will foster a sustainable society in harmony with our natural environment. From its inception, RISH has prioritized robust collaboration with Asian partners. This commitment has yielded numerous fruitful international research projects, including those effectively utilizing the large-scale atmospheric observation stations and vast plant research fields throughout the region. Building on this foundation, RISH launched the Asia Research Node (ARN) program in 2016. ARN is designed to strengthen international collaborative research hubs and cultivate talented individuals who can advance “Humanosphere Sciences” globally, with a particular focus on partnerships across Asia. As a prime activity of ARN, we host a series of annual ARN Symposia to discuss the current status and future prospects of “Humanosphere Sciences,” thereby bolstering international collaborative research towards a “Sustainable Humanosphere.”
This year, we welcome you to The 10th ARN Symposium at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. This milestone event will feature two keynote sessions and eight scientific sessions with invited lectures from leading researchers in “Humanosphere Science.” We will also host a poster session, specifically designed to foster the next generation of young researchers who will sustain and expand this vital field. Topics will cover all aspects of “Humanosphere Science,” including, but not limited to: plant biology, microbiology, entomology, ecology, chemistry, material science, architecture, space science, atmospheric science, environmental science, electromagnetic engineering, forestry, agriculture, and so on.
