In Japan, the number of large-diameter logs (large-diameter lumber) is increasing with the aging of coniferous forests. In order to efficiently lumber large-diameter lumber, it is important to understand the residual stress that causes deformation due to lumber, but there was not enough data on Japanese coniferous trees. In this paper, we measured the distribution of residual stress in the trunk using 63 large-diameter Sugi logs to understand the characteristics of residual stress in large-diameter Sugi.
