概要

生存圏科学の国際化推進を目的とした「生存圏アジアリサーチノード(ARN)国際シンポジウム」の開催

目的と具体的な内容

生存圏研究所は、2016年度に生存圏科学の国際化推進の海外拠点を活用した国際共同研究と人材育成をさらに強化するため、「生存圏アジアリサーチノード(ARN)」共同ラボをインドネシア科学院(LIPI・現BRIN)内に設置し、国内外の研究者コミュニティーを連接させる(ハブ機能)活動を開始した。その機能の強化の一環として、国内外の共同研究者を糾合したARN国際シンポジウムを開催してきた。2017年に、マレーシア理科大と連携してマレーシア・ペナンで開催した第1回を皮切りとして、第2回(京都大)、第3回(国立中興大・台湾・台中)、第4回(南京林業大学・中国・南京)、第5回(オンライン)、第6回(オンライン;京都大学国際シンポジウムとの併催)、第7回(オンライン)、第8回(ハサヌディン大・インドネシア・マッカサル及びオンライン)、第9回(京都大及びオンライン)と開催を重ねている。10周年を迎える今回は、コロナ禍以降、初の本格的な海外開催のシンポジウムとして、国立成功大学と連携し、台湾・台南市で開催した。日本国内からの参加者38名(うち学生11名)、台湾からの参加者56名と非常に盛況なシンポジウムとなった。また、シンポジウム初日には、台湾国立成功大学計画設計学院および夏漢民宇宙科学技術センターと生存圏研究所の部局間学術交流協定締結式が開催された。3日間にわたり、宇宙科学、大気科学、木質科学、建築工学、材料科学をはじめとする生存圏科学が包含する多様な研究分野の重要トピックに焦点を当てた8つの一般講演セッションと2つの基調講演セッションを企画し、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ研究者が各分野の最新の研究成果を共有し、将来の方向性をともに議論した。さらにポスターセッションでは、学生を中心に37件の発表があり、両国間の学生・研究者の交流が促進された。Keynoteセッションでは、日本台湾両国から名誉教授クラスの5名の研究者に行って頂いた。いずれも好評であり、シンポジウムは成功裏に終了した。日本と台湾両国から若手・ベテラン研究者がバランス良く出席し、人的交流が大きく促進されたことは非常に大きな成果であったと言える。

生存圏科学の発展や関連コミュニティの形成への貢献

生存圏研究所は、2016年度に第5番目の生存圏ミッション「高品位生存圏」を新たに設定するとともに、生存圏科学に関する日・ASEANの連携強化を目指した「生存圏アジアリサーチノード(ARN)」の活動を開始して、生存圏科学の国際化と研究成果の社会還元に向けた活動を展開している。本シンポジウムでは、これらの活動の今後の展開に向けた構想の具体化、国際コミュニティーおよび国際連携チームの形成と、それを支える次世代若手人材育成への寄与が期待される。また、赤道大気レーダー等の大型設備、実験フィールド、ARN 共同ラボを活用した国際共同研究の拡大や、国内外の研究機関とARNの連携強化、本研究所のハブ機能の強化につながると期待される。
