NARA is the ancient capital of Japan. It celebrates the 1300th anniversary of its founding at 2010. Both tours will start at Kyoto station, followed by visiting Kofukuji-temple to see many impressive Buddhist statues exhibited in the museum. The tours will also visit a reconstruction site of huge timber hall and demonstration of traditional timber processing by master carpenters. After having lunch at Kofukuji-temple, both tours will move to Todaiji-temple to visit the largest timber structure in Japan (Daibutsu-den), we will walk through unique gate (Nandai-mon) with two big wooden statues of guardian gods (Niou-zo) displayed. After this, the tours will be separated by different routes, tour A and tour B.
The tour A involves hanging around the entire Todaij-temple area to observe many different styles of traditional timber structures. Afterward we will visit Kasuga-taisha shrine via dense Japanese cedar grove, looking on a performance of dedication dance to the forest based on Japanese religion.
