2. Measuring growth stress |
|
Normal wood also generates tensile stress, which is called ggrowth stressh, to keep the stem straight. Tension wood has 4-5 times more stress than normal wood.

These growth stresses are measured by using strain gauge. The strain is detected electrically with the gauge when the stress in wood is released by cut.
