目的・内容

地球科学、情報工学、およびその関連分野の研究者・技術者が一堂に会し、地球内部から太陽に亘る壮大な時間と空間の多様で膨大な観測情報を、IGY から現在まで、どのように取り扱い知識を深めてきたか、また最新の研究成果と今後の計画についての意見交換。それにより、新たな地球科学・生存圏科学創成の契機とするとともに、これら科学の重要性を国内外に発信した。口頭発表 58 篇、ポスター発表 71 篇(合同シンポジウム全体での発表論文数)。
