We are interested in analyzing tree ring as indicators of climate change. Especially of Hinoki wood (Chamaecyparis obtusa), anatomical characteristics, ratio of stable isotope (13C and 18O) and their correlations have been investigated. The work is in progress in collaboration with Prof. Tayasu, Prof. Tagami, Dr. Watanabe, Kyoto University and Prof. Nakatsuka, Hokkaido University.
In the future, we would like to extend our climate survey to the Yayoi period by making use of old wood collections at our Xylarium.
